The Great Temple of Ramses II, Abu Simbel
Carved out of the mountain between 1274 and 1244 BC the temple was dedicated to the gods Ra-Harakhty, Amun, Ptah and the deified pharaoh himself. In an international rescue initiated by Unesco Abu Simbel was saved from the rising water of Lake Nasser.
