June 21., 2001. On a hilltop, a few kilometers outside of Lusaka, Zambia, we are witness of one of natures most impressive phenomena: a Total Solar Eclipse. Where only minutes ago the sun was shining brightly, the sky now shows a black hole, surrounded by a brilliant ring of fire. Meanwhile our surroundings are covered in a strange, faint metallic light as if suddenly night has fallen. Crickets start chirping, a cock crows. And then, after 3 minutes and 14 seconds of darkness, it's all over and the sun reenters with a flash of light. Life takes it course, but we are changed forever!

A beautiful diamond ring shows up at the end of the totality. Diamond Ring.
The different stadia of the eclipse photographed at 10 min intervals.
